Merit Badge Coordinator (MC)

The Merit Badge Coordinator is responsible for assisting scouts in locating merit badge counselors and promoting merit badge days from other troops.

Reports to

  • Advancement Committee Chair

Qualifications

The Merit Badge Coordinator must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Agree to abide by the Scout Oath and the Scout Law
  • Possess the moral, educational, and emotional qualities that the Boy Scouts of America deems necessary to afford positive leadership to youth
  • Be appointed by the Committee Chair.
  • Be registered as an adult leader of the BSA.
  • Completed all training.

Responsibilities

The Troop Merit Badge Coordinator's responsibilities are to:

  • Research opportunities for Scouts to participate in Merit Badge opportunities.
  • Communicate Merit Badge Day events to the Troop in a timely manner.
  • Maintain list of Merit Badge Counselors within Troop and the Patriot District in TroopTrack.
  • Work with Merit Badge Counselors and the Scoutmaster to facilitate the organization of merit badge programs.
  • Promote Merit Badge programming within the Troop.
